Unlike many cast iron teapots, this is a genuine Japanese tetsubin. We source our tetsubin (cast iron) teapots from one of Japan’s finest manufacturers of modern ironware, with a company history of over 100 years. The production process of making tetsubin usually consists of 64 to 68 steps. Our manufacturer still performs most of this by hand, and quality is strictly maintained and controlled by master craftsmen known as “Kamashi”. It requires at least 15 years of apprentice-hood to become a full-fledged craftsman and 30-40 years to become a “Kamashi”.   Cast iron teapots will keep your tea hot for close to one hour. Fully enameled inside for a lifetime of use. Comes equipped with a removable, stainless steel infuser basket. Holds 20 oz.

Care Instructions:

Thoroughly rinse the teapot with hot water after each use.

While the teapot is still warm, dry the teapot inside and out with a dry cloth.

Remove the teapot lid while the teapot is drying.

Do not scrub the teapot with abrasive pads or use any detergents, simply rinse it with hot water and wipe it dry after each use.

Do not leave any tea or water in the teapot for long periods of time.

Use the cast iron teapot to brew tea, not as a stove-top kettle. The enamel lining is fragile and could be damaged.

Never use in a microwave oven.

Never use a dishwasher to clean it.

Do not expose the teapot to salt or oil.
